Juan-Luis Castro holds degrees in Mathematics (BSc 1988) and a PhD in Mathematics (1991) from the University of Granada. He is a Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada and currently teaches at the Higher Technical School of Computer and Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Granada. His research interests include neural networks, fuzzy systems, machine learning, and related applications. He has published three books, over 150 research papers in journals, conferences, and books, and serves as a reviewer for some international journals and conferences on these topics. He has been the Principal Investigator in several regionally, nationally, and internationally funded research projects and various technology transfer projects contracted directly with different companies. He was the founder of Virtual Solutions & Artificial Intelligence, a technology-based company created with the goal of providing Intelligent Systems with Natural Language. He is currently the head of the “Computational Intelligence” research group at the University of Granada. His profound understanding of deep relationships and machine learning is essential for the development of the Nutcracker algorithm, whose aim is to detect extremist profiles and misinformation.
